Headspun with vertigo and beauty
I look across the valley to the border –
a clear view all the way.
The forest is continuous.
Birds and animals have no regard
for our demarcations.
Human lives in villages on either side
of the invisible boundary
are the same.
It is not by our choice that we answer
to different laws, different leaders,
different gods.
for Refugee Week
Beauty and truth ring from your poem. I find the ending to be a powerful statement. We may answer to different laws, leaders and gods but, we are all still human. We all stand with the same blood coursing through our veins. Intriguing write for Refugee Week. Have a great day.
ReplyDeletethumbs up; things are as they should be; our business is managing what we are given

But But But ... just up there 80 miles over the line they all like Hockey instead of baseball and they say "eh?" a lot .... their culture stems from the bureauacracy of the Hudson's Bay Company while ours stems from revolution.
ReplyDeleteI like 'headspun with vertigo and beauty'.
ReplyDeleteRabbits' Guy's comment made me smile...

Now, i'll be more regular.
I'm with Michelle: there was beauty and truth in every line.
ReplyDeleteHi Juliet
ReplyDeleteI like your poem of demarcations, and the same applies when you travel around the world, we seem very different people each in our own little unique civilization, but underneath, humanity has the same heart and longings and needs.
