During the conference of the European City Farms, we had site visits to a number of city farms and adventure playgrounds in Dresden. The Johansplatz Abenteuerspielplatz is a lovely green adventure playground with a climbing wall, lots of cycling activities, a Bauspielplatz area (where the children can build huts etc) lots of trees and some rabbits. You can see their rabbits here and the photo above shows my favourite, not that you should have favourites amongst rabbits of course!
Eselsnest is a donkey farm and adventure playground with rabbits too. It's a very large area of sand and feels a bit bleak to be honest, but the animals are nice and they have lots of activities for young people. Unfortunately in Germany you can find more and more fun-parks (i don`t know the right word in English). Very loud. Very expensive (too expensive for poor families -- and there are a lot of poor families). The owners of these parks need children (and their parents) as clients ... not more.

ReplyDeleteSounds like they have lots happening there for children who don't really care what the surroundings are like. Being in touch with animals is bound to give them a greater appreciation of nature. Cute donkeys and rabbits!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see a City Farm - wish we had more of them here. Although I now live in the Yorkshire Dales, I taught in Inner City multi-racial schools for many years and know from experience how little children know of the countryside. Handling animals and seeing them in their natural habitat is so important.
ReplyDeleteCity farms are so critical! I am so happy when i hear about people taking an interest in both, the natural world and their food system. Cities are where we need this kind of thing the most! Thanks for posting!

I think its just fine that you have a favorite rabbit. It doesn't mean you love the others less, it just means there's a certain something special about a certain black rabbit. :)
