Moths are realy interesting, aren't they, but unfortunately, for a number of reasons, more difficult to identify than buterflies. I found a red underwing on our door once.
Lucy - yes they are generally more difficult to id, the orange underwing is relatively easy for a moth, just shouldn't be around at this time of year according to the books...
I'm not 100% convinced about my ID of the moth, this seems to be too late in the year for it, but I can't think what else it would be....
