on rhododendrons -
doves gently coo.
I posted this photo and haiku last May, but it is perfect for yesterday's walk round the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh. It was a very wet day but the rhododendrons and magnolia were beautifully in bloom and plenty of birds were singing. We found some very friendly great tits, who would have fed from our hands if we had had any food for them!
so beautiful and serene
ReplyDeleteSimply, lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank's for this instant of tenderness.

ReplyDeleteLovely! I adore the rhododendrons this time of year their pedals like paper! Thank you for commenting at Nature-Trail! A pleasure to meet you!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, lovely, both.
ReplyDeleteflowers
ReplyDeleteall around
and joy.
Your haiga/haiku is as delicate and beautiful as the rhododendrons themselves.
ReplyDeleteraindrops here too... beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love it when I read something that brings a slow smile to my lips. This did it. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo serene..
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment in my blog.
ReplyDeleteI love these flowers and I think they love rain much more than me.
I can hear the rain in those dentals, and the coo contrasts effectively.
ReplyDeletesimply wonderful...
ReplyDeleteWe love our Rhodies here too ... the State flower.
ReplyDeleteWonderful. Thanks. DavidM
ReplyDeleteThose big white tree rhodos are the most fabulous things. Lovely you made me think of them.
ReplyDeleteLove Rhododendrons, so soft and sweet, and the the Great Tit's yellow tummy is quite nice as well. Birds here have been very active, twittering away at all hours of the day and night.
ReplyDeleteWe have a crazy rhododendron bush. I suppose they're much the same there, since your winters aren't that different from ours… blooming year-round. If a hard freeze kills the blooms, it shrugs and starts over.
ReplyDeleteThere's some inspiration there. Just keep doing what you do best, regardless of conditions.
Your words convey such a serene image that for a few moments the mind is so gently stilled.
ReplyDeleteI love this haiku. Very nice. I'm amazed that the rhododendrons are already in bloom all the way up there in Edinburgh. Down here in northern Italy we have a profusion of camellias, and the azaleas are just starting to bloom, but the rhododendrons have a week, if not more, to go.
ReplyDeletethe photo really looks like a delicate dove, paper thin and not singing but fragrant... i would like to take him in and sing to him.
ReplyDeleteMade me smile - a nice antidote to Julie Andrews and those dreaded raindrops on roses!
