I thought it might be nice to revisit the altered book I made after I'd visited Italy a few years ago now.
I made the book from an old anthology of articles from the Italian press. You can see the original book in this post.
This is the autumn colour page of the book. The background is an article about Italia Nostra, which is an Italian conservation group. The leaves we found on a walk in the woods near the River Po in Torino. I coloured the background in pencil crayon.
I haven't altered a book in several years but you may inspire me to get back to it, Juliet! Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading a lot about altered books, and did not quite get the idea. I understand after looking at your pages.
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty! I love these.
ReplyDeleteAppropriately, the word verification is "zoolog"!
Lovely Juliet! Autumn is such a beautiful time of year. So many things to be inspired by.

Heee Heee ... you should see OUR altered books!!!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting Poet, and I'm feeling inspired. Lots of leaves over at Jasmine's too - strange, but ours aren't turning yet. Blowing off, yes, but not turning.
ReplyDeleteCrafty and the Bunns--I've seen a few bun altered books here at the house!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, I really like altered books. My daughter's art class in high school did them as one of their projects and they were all fascinating. I've wanted to try doing one for years, but I' can't get past the "how much is enough" aspect of the process.
Bunns and bunnits - yes Anya altered a few books in her time, the most memorable being one by Banana Yoshimoto - i think she thought it was a new kind of banana snack...
ReplyDeleteEG Wow - I'd love to see photos of your books if you do any more!
ReplyDeleteSandy, Hannah, Michelle - thanks!
Titus - funny how your leaves aren't as far on as ours...
I collected some leaves last year and didn't know what to do with them. This is wonderful...Michelle
