Locally all events try to encourage ride-sharing/car-pooling.<br /><br />Freeways near cities have "HOV" lanes (High Occupancy Vehicles) which is 2 or more people and motorcycles! It worked out really well because we were both able to get our work done about the same time everyday. It saved both of us quite a bit in fuel and vehicle wear. A couple of years ago he moved and there are not others close by. One option that my job allows is that I can telecommute 3 days a week so I only have to drive in for 2 days a week and that has really saved a lot. I am tickled though, that my new allotment garden is just three miles away.
